FOX affiliate adds new leader

KQDS-TV Channel 21 has new leadership.

Red River Broadcasting of Fargo, owner of the FOX affiliate in Duluth, hired Jackie Bruenjes on Monday to be the station’s general manager and director of sales.

Bruenjes was a sales executive for Red River Broadcasting for the last two years and group sales coordinator for the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, a minor league baseball team, for two years prior to Red River, she said.

Bruenjes said she is a “small town girl” from North Dakota and her first goal is to establish relationships in the Twin Ports.

“I want to hold a lot of meetings and get to know the community,” said Bruenjes, a mother of six. “The future is on hold right now.”

Bruenjes said no changes to the station’s operations are imminent.

“She seems to have some fresh new ideas,” Julie Moravchik, the station’s news director, said of their first meeting this morning.

Bruenjes said her main focus will be on the business side of the station’s operations.

“My instructions from Fargo were bottom line, increasing revenue and generating new business,” said Bruenjes, a North Dakota State University graduate.

Bruenjes replaces Dave Hileman, who ended his nine-year tenure at KQDS on Friday.

FOX 21 and the Duluth News Tribune are news partners and share some stories.

  1. It is actually Red River Broadcasting of Fargo who owns Fox 21. Red River Broadcasting is also the parent company of Red Rock Radio.
