The Voyageur Sentinel in Orr filed for bankruptcy last week.
The small weekly newspaper about 100 miles northwest of Duluth had a circulation of about 4,400, according to mnnews.com.
The newspaper’s office voicemail said, "Due to poor and unstable economic conditions and personal tragedies, the Voyageur Sentinel has been closed."
If I recall correctly, Time Magazine said more than 1,300 newspapers folded in 2009.
In rural Minnesota, another one bites the dust. Sad news indeed.
