Turns out, you don’t have to wait til 5 p.m. Friday to check out the new Apricot Lane Boutique in downtown Duluth.
The eye-fetching store, geared to women from their mid 20s to middle-aged, will open at 9 a.m. Friday at 313 W. Superior St., next to Bagley & Co. A ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. and a Friends and Family event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Regular store hours will then be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
The store is owned by retail vet Wendy Myers who won the Greater Downtown Council’s storefront contest last year. The win got her a year’s free rent and other help to get a shop going downtown.
It’s the first Apricot Lane franchise in Minnesota, so Duluth (through Myers) has beat the Twin Cities for the first store. And they’re hammering for one down there.
Also opening this weekend and a first for the region is Francesca’s Collections at Miller Hill Mall.
Francesca’s Collections opens Saturday, offering women’s clothing, jewelry, handbags, accessories and gifts for women.
“Women of all ages will love this store,” says Cindy Rodenhizer, director of marketing at Miller Hill Mall.
And I got to admit, it looked pretty cool when I walked by the space last week near the Fountain Court. And that was before they had any merchandise in it.
So ladies, check them both out.
